Brian Carter- Byzance 2005
United States, Washington, Columbia Valley
The 2005 Byzance blend is the second vintage to contain three of the major grapes found in the Southern Rhone Valley of France. This blend was crafted using 57% Grenache, 22% Syrah and 21% Mourvedre. The Mourvedre grape is a relative newcomer to Washington state vineyards. It brings a certain rustic character to the wine, making it more reminiscent of a Chateauneuf du Pape. The aroma brings you onto a sun baked hillside surrounded by scents of wild raspberries, licorice, bay and pepper spice. Seductively balanced, the wine has flavors of black raspberry with well integrated tannins, as dark fruit and spice linger on the palate.
Sawyer- cab 2003
United States
Influenced by the lower yields of the 2003 growing season, our 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon displays the depth and intensity that can be drawn from the Rutherford appellation. Aromas of blackberry, cherry and a hint of nutmeg are present on the nose, expanded by additional berry, spice and toasty cedar flavors on the palate. Intricately structured, the tannins are firm on the palate, but well integrated, providing a lingering finish on a wine that is enjoyable now and will continue to age for six to eight years
Silver Oak 2003
United States, Alexander Valley
The 2003 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is an elegant, highly expressive wine that displays great complexity due to the multifaceted climatic conditions of the harvest season. The wine is dark ruby with a purple to red edge. It has bright aromas of black cherry, dark chocolate, black tea, allspice and ginger. In the mouth, it offers a full-bodied attack, a round, balanced mid-palate redolent of cherry preserves, brown sugar and caramel and an extremely long finish of savory ripe fruit. Properly cellared, it should give drinking pleasure through 2026.
Darioush-Napa Valley Shiraz 2005
United States
A distinctive Shiraz bearing the hallmarks of Northern Rhone Syrah including white pepper spice, orange rind and blackberry liquor with accessible structure. Its layers are a decadent blend of espresso notes with both ripe red fruits and rich jammy black fruits. Anise notes spice up the palate and linger with elements of earth into a long finish.
Silver Oak 2002
