Black Swan Vineyard 2005 Syrah/Shiraz
Australia, South Australia
B
Mild, soft, slightly sweet, easygoing shiraz with black cherry fruit, leather and minerality. Medium weight and sweetish, with soft tannin. Some heat. Good length.
Rodney Strong Estate 2005 Zinfandel
United States, California, Sonoma Valley
Fresh, bright berry fruit from our heritage Russian River vineyard combined with the ripe peppery jamminess from our Alexander Valley vineyards make for wonderful diversity of flavor showcasing the best that zinfandel can offer in one wine. Aging for 17 months in primarily American oak enhances the zinfandel’s inherent spicy qualities, while the ebullient fruit of this medium rich wine suggests enjoyment over the next 2 to 4 years.
Jacob's Creek Reserve 2005 Syrah/Shiraz
Australia, South Australia
A
The 2006 Jacobs Creek Reserve Shiraz is a full bodied wine displaying rich fruit flavours of dark berries and plums and velvety tannins. Lovely acid balance and integration of flavours result in a supple and engaging wine with a lingering finish of spice, chocolate and mocha. A true expression of Australian Shiraz, to be enjoyed now or which with careful cellaring will develop gracefully over the next ten years.

It is a balanced wine displaying dense fruit and a long persistent finish. Approachable in its youth, with careful cellaring this wine will continue to develop with age.

Sedara 2006 Nero D'Avola
Italy, Sicily
A-
The ruby-red color is rounded out by lively garnet reflections. The impact on the nose is intense with sensations of tobacco, spices and mineral notes. In the mouth, the wine is balanced with fruity flavors, mainly blackberries and cherries. Persistent finish. Food matches: Combine with introductory dishes with meat sauces, elaborate baked pasta dishes and red meats. Try the wine with lightly cooked fresh tuna. Two dishes: Tonno con polenta (tuna with cornmeal). Cannelloni ai pistilli di zafferano farciti al fegato grasso (pasta tubes flavored with saffron and stuffed with foie gras). "Farsu magru" the traditional meat roll stuffed with eggs, ham, cheese and herbs). Serve: In goblets of medium size; uncorked at the time of serving; excellent at 16-18°C (61-64°F).
PUGLIA PRIMITIVO - A - MANO 2006 Primitivo
Italy, Apulia
B+
A-Mano is a stunning example of a concentrated, elegant, rich, deep, dark purple wine. The raspberries jump out of the glass to herald the aromas to follow, blueberry, tar, leather, anise and cedar. The complexity evolves and the soft, velvety tannins linger on the long, long finish. This is a wine that reveals a new treasure with each sip
