Valentino 2003 Marechal Foch
United States, Illinois, Long Grove
B-
tastes kinda like a VA wine, a bit of chambourcin bite to it. slight-to-good chance we were supposed to save this for jon's return.
Becker Vineyards 2004 Cabernet-Syrah
United States, Texas, Texas Hill Country
B
whoa texas wine. big, like the state.
Robert Mondavi 2006 Fume Blanc (aka Sauvignon Blanc)
United States, California, North Coast (Mendocino County)
C
almost too sweet and too creamy. the french oak comes through on the finish.
King Family 2006 Viognier
United States, Virginia, Monticello
B
not as good as some viogniers i've tried (jeff, veritas) but still solid.
Veritas 2005 Merlot
United States, Virginia, Monticello
B
tasted more like a cab sav than a merlot. as such, i liked it.
Marietta Cellars NV Zinfandel
United States, California, Sonoma Valley
B+
Excellent wine esp considering the price (at the fairly pricey restaurant).
Citra 2005 Montepulciano
Italy, Abruzzi
D-
you honestly need to plug your nose to enjoy this wine. the taste is obviously cheap, but berries and drinkable, if only you could avoid the nose.
Swanson 2004 Merlot
United States, California, Napa Valley
B
kinda bitey. and my grade may be biased b/c i am not the biggest fan of merlots.
Pepperwood Grove 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon
United States, California
C-
it was on sale. would be a perfect 2nd bottle considering the price + taste combo.
Frei Brothers Reserve 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon
United States, California, Sonoma Valley
B
   balanced
J. Lohr 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon
United States, California, Napa Valley
B+
   complex. nice nose.
Trapiche 2004 Malbec
Argentina, Mendoza Province
B
   thick, juicy malbec.
Cedar Knoll 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon
United States, California, Napa Valley
B+
   big, thick cab sav.
Elderton 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon
Australia, South Australia, Barossa Valley
C+
disappointing among its company (the case of 12), but not a bad wine.
Viader 2004 Cabernet Franc
United States, California, Napa Valley
A-
didnt let it breath, so tasted really concentrated at first. after an hour, it relaxed and softened. a good balance of berries and tobacco, acid and tannins, a developed wine that can be drunk now.
Mandra Rossa 2006 60% Cab Sav - 40% Shiraz
Italy, Sicily, Menfi
D+
   watered down.
Chateau de Fonbel 2005
France, Bordeaux, Saint-Emilion
B+
   very pleasant palate.
I Greppi 2005 60% Cab Sav - 30% Merlot - 10 % Cab Franc
Italy, Tuscany, Bolgheri
A
a truly balanced wine. i guess i've been drinking so many cheap reds overrun with tannins lately, it's easy to appreciate the balance.
Horton Vineyards 2005 Cabernet Franc
United States, Virginia, Monticello
B
excellent value. disappointed that my mouth was too burnt to truly savor this wine.
Clos de los Siete 2006 50% Malbec, 30% Merlot, 10% Cab Sav, 10% Syrah
Argentina, Mendoza Province
B-
i'm sick, so this log shouldn't hold much weight
Maison St. Paul 2006
France, Languedoc, Herault
D+
compared to the earlier bottle, this wine was incredibly thin. even as a second bottle for the night, not a strong showing.
Ladera 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon
United States, California, Napa Valley
B-
disappointed by the nose (or lack thereof) and the overall typicality of the wine. nothing really stood out to make me want to buy this wine again. but by no means a "bad" wine.
Yellow Tail 2006 Syrah/Shiraz
Australia, New South Wales, Riverina
B
excellent value, but i think i am still acquiring a taste for shiraz's.
Jefferson Vineyards 2006 Viognier
United States, Virginia, Monticello
A-
bitter at first. gotta let it breathe. once so, it really opens up. floral palate replaces the bitterness. soft almost buttery finish.
Columbia Crest Winery 2005 Merlot
United States, Washington, Columbia Valley
B+
solid for the price; a textbook value wine. soft on the palate. loved the finish.
Woop Woop 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon
Australia, South Australia
D+
nothing distinguishable from a cheap red to make me want to buy this wine.
La Loggia 2005 Barbera
Italy, Piedmont, Alba
C+
different. i think b/c it tasted "cold" throughout. made it hard to distinguish any other flavors or aromas.
Ca'Donini 2005 Montepulciano
Italy, Abruzzo
B
   medium body, easy to drink.
Cesari 2005 75% Corvina, 25% Rondinella
Italy, Veneto, Valpolicella
B+
a juicy italian wine. lighter than a chianti. my first time, i think the smells of the restaurant overwhelmed the nose. second time through, the nose was HUGE and COMPLEX!
Skouras 2005 95% Saint George (Agiorgitiko), 5% Cab Sav
Greece, Peloponnesus
C+
first greek wine, definitely different. too light for my liking. perhaps because we drank it at 11a. not sure.
