Horton 2002 Norton
United States, Virginia, Monticello
C
heavy, almost too heavy. need a piece of meat with this. wrong to drink alone on a saturday night.
Veritas 2004
United States, Virginia, Monticello
B
enjoyed this claret a bunch. curious to know what grapes were in it, i could pick up some cab franc, but not sure what else.
Burnley 2003 Chardonnay
United States, Virginia, Monticello
B-
   pleasant drinking wine.
Wintergreen 2004 Cabernet Franc
United States, Virginia, Monticello
B+
sipped this wine while sitting near a river at the foot of the blue ridge mountains. how could it not be good?
Kanonkop 2003 Merlot, Cab Sav, Pinot, Ruby, Cab Franc
South Africa, Stellenbosch
D
   very disappointing. no redeeming qualities.
Cooper 2003 Cabernet Franc
United States, Virginia
C-
taste and nose reminded me slightly of a chambourcin - not what i expected from the cab franc.
Barboursville 2005 Nebbiolo, Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc
United States, Virginia, Monticello
C+
first blush i've enjoyed - especially enough to buy! - in a long time. quite a pleasant summer-evening-out-o n-the-porch wine.
Wild Horse 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon
United States, California, San Luis Obispo County
B-
Perhaps I dont drink enough Cali wines. Perhaps I dont drink enough Cab Savs. Either way, I dont think I have enough frame of reference to judge this wine fairly.
Burnley 2005 Norton
United States, Virginia, Monticello
B
Odd that they've already released this red. Apparently it didnt need the year to ferment? One of few 100% Norton wines.
Burnley - Daniel Cellars NV Chambourcin, Norton, Cab Sav
United States, Virginia, Monticello
B
Like a Danish Glogg, good served chilled but better hot. Perfect for the holidays.
Horton NV 91% Raspberry, 9% Cab Franc
United States, Virginia, Monticello
C
Too sweet for me, but would probably enjoy a small glass after dinner with a dark chocolate dessert
Horton 2005 Viognier
United States, Virginia, Monticello
B
They referred to it as a spicy wine, but I only picked it up on my second taste, near the end.
Barboursville 2004 Merlot, Cab Sav, Cab Franc, Petit Verdot
United States, Virginia, Monticello
A-
Best after 2010. Only got a glass at a tasting.
Barboursville 2004 Cabernet Franc
United States, Virginia, Monticello
A
actually 10% Merlot. check out what Napa critics have to say: http://www.barboursv illewine.com/welcome _news.html
Mastrojanni 2003 Sangiovese
Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino
B
very big taste and finish. best paired with meats/olives.
COS Vittoria 2003 Nero d’Avola
Italy, Sicily, Bastonaca, Vittoria
C-
a big nose with a taste that couldn't follow up. interestingly this winery's bottles are smaller and fatter than typical 750ml bottles.
Primosic 2004 Pinot Gris
Italy, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Collio
B-
developed a buttery taste after sitting out on the table for about 30 min.
Parcel 41 2003 Merlot
United States, California, Napa Valley
B-
a lot more bite than i expected for a merlot. but i wouldnt rush out to buy this again.
Jefferson 2004 Cabernet Franc
United States, Virginia, Monticello
B+
Maria pointed it out, that this year's Cab Franc seems watered-down compared to the one we tasted last summer. Yet this Cab Franc still outshone the two others on the table, still a very solid wine.
Chateau Morrisette 2002 Cabernet Franc
United States, Virginia, Shenandoah Valley
D+
after comparing to the Jefferson and Tarara Cab Francs, this one paled in comparison. A very weak cab franc.
Pascual Toso 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon
Argentina, Mendoza Province, Maipu Vineyards
B
   a solid cab.
Cuna de Piedra 2000 Tannat
Uruguay
D
not much to it, didnt enjoy the taste.
Lost Creek Winery 2004 Chambourcin
United States, Virginia, Northern Neck
B
besides the nose, i really enjoyed this wine.
Barboursville 2004 Merlot
United States, Virginia, Monticello
B-
Simple and light. Could be agood or bad thing, depending on my mood.
Barboursville 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon
United States, Virginia, Monticello
B
very minimal tannins for a cab sav. smooth.
Augey 2001 Merlot, Cab Sav, Cab Franc
France, Bordeaux
B
The best $5 wine I've ever had. Apparently this "pizza and wine" shop had it overstocked, hence the deal. Not bad!
Tarara 2003 Cabernet Franc
United States, Virginia, Northern Neck
B+
   Very soft yet tasty.
Chateau Labat 2003 50% Cab Sav, 50% Merlot
France, Bordeaux, Haut-Medoc
B
nothing particularly outstanding, but a good, drinkable wine. i enjoyed it.
Chateau Pierrail 2002
France, Bordeaux
B
potentially my first french red wine, so i dont know what to compare it to.
Gondomar 2001
Spain, Ribera del Duero
B
i think i'm just used to lower quality cabs, and that's why i felt this one was so heavy.
