Signorello 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon
United States, California, Napa Valley
A-
Very nice soft cab sav. Clearly a few years old. But not too soft.
Excelsior 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon
South Africa, Robertson, Ashton
B
Had a hot taste. Very decent wine. Watched it while the US tied England in the 2010 World Cup.
Dynamite 2008 Zinfandel
United States, California, Sonoma Valley
B-
OK Zin. Could have been more exciting, but there was nothing wrong with it.
Breaux 2008 Viognier
United States, Virginia, Monticello
C
Not great. I don't drink a lot of white wines, so I'm not the best judge, but I just didn't too highly of this one. Not light or crisp enough.
Jefferson Vineyards 2008 Cabernet Franc
United States, Virginia, Monticello
B+
Pretty soft. Short finish. I liked it but I wish there were more too it. I haven't had a lot of great VA red wine in a while and while this didn't quite get to "great," it was quite solid.
Rodney Strong 2006 Merlot
United States, California, Sonoma Valley
C+
Just not a whole lot to it. Tasted kind of boring and unspectacular. Not terrible by any stretch, but not anything great either.
HRM Rex-Goliath Wines NV Zinfandel
United States, California, Central Coast/Monterey
C-
Eh, not particularly good. Not very big. Not very flavorful.
Sterling 2008 Zinfandel
United States, California, Sonoma Valley
B
Wanted a big Zin and this met the expectations. Not huge by any means, but def big.
Hall 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon
United States, California, Napa Valley
A-
Nice - soft cab sav. I think I'm in the mood for a bigger wine because I can't help think that this isn't very big
Sbragia 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon
United States, California, Sonoma Valley
A-
Pretty dry, great cab sav. Taste a little muted, but totally not holding that against it. It's probably because I' don't drink a lot of wine this old (and I realize this one is hardly ancient). Anyway this one is real solid.
MontGras 2003 28% Carmenere - 28% Malbec - 27% Cabernet Sauvignon - 17% Merlot
Chile, Colchagua Valley
A-
Very solid. Glad it didn't get bad after our moves. Easy drinking, but not too easy drinking.
Oak Leaf NV Cabernet Sauvignon
United States, California, San Joaquin County
D+
Not very good. It was < $3, so I feel like it was worth the gamble. And it wasn't the worst I've ever had. It does reinforce my thought that if you are buying cheap, merlot is a good way to go. I liked the $3 merlot much more...
Oak Leaf NV Merlot
United States, California, San Joaquin County
C+
The best $2.97 wine I've ever bought. I think it's also the cheapest 750ml bottle I've ever bought. Exceptionally drinkable for the money.
Little Penguin 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon
Australia, South Australia
C+
Fine cheap Cab Sav. Certainly not spectacular, but certainly very drinkable.
Red Diamond 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon
United States, Washington
C
   Eh, just OK.
Afton Mountain 2007 Sangiovese
United States, Virginia, Monticello
B+
Really good. Lacking much of a nose, but other than that, really enjoyed it.
Oakencroft NV
United States, Virginia, Monticello
C+
Tastes like a simple Virginia blend. Which it is. Much better than most similarly priced wines from a super market. Or maybe not better, but doesn't taste generic like lots of them do.
Red Diamond Winery 2003 Merlot
United States, Washington
B+
Really good value. Just a solid Merlot for very cheap.
Barefoot NV Merlot
United States, California, Modesto
C
Far from thrilling, but far from terrible too. I would venture to say this would be a good second bottle for many.
Arnozan 2001
France, Bordeaux
B+
   Tasty, but a bit light.
Sbragia 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon
United States, California, Sonoma Valley
B+
Real good Cab Sav. Not the longest finish ever. Almost an A-
Villadoria 2003 Nebbiolo
Italy, Piedmont, Barolo
A-
Really good wine. Not too heavy at all but plenty to it. Very nice finish. Just all around good. I guess it isn't a full A because I've had more complex wines.
De Martino 2006 Carmenere
Chile, Viticultural Region of the Central Valley, Maipo Valley
B+
Very pleasant. Nice finish. Somewhat light, but not tooooooo light.
Clos de los Siete 2006 45% Malbec, 35% Merlot, 10% Cab Sav, 10% Syrah
Argentina, Mendoza Province
A-
I really liked this one. A very nice blend. Nice and flavorful, but not overly so.
Sherbrooke Cellars 2006 Pinot Noir
United States, California, Sonoma Valley
B-
A little slimy, which is not a great word I know. But that's how it tasted. Once I got over that, it was OK.
Prosperity Wines NV Cabernet Sauvignon
United States, California, Santa Ynez Valley
C
Very drinkable red, but there are a lot of very drinkable reds and this wasn't the best of them.
Trivento 2005 Malbec
Argentina, Mendoza Province
C
OK Malbec. Not bad or anything, but it didn't really distinguish itself. On one hand, it was able to stand up to spicy shrimp, on the other hand it wasn't the most amazing pairing or anything.
Ravenswood 2005 Merlot
United States, California, Sonoma Valley
B-
Very drinkable merlot. I was expecting as much. Not much nose, much tanin (but not totally crazy).
Ravenswood 2005 Zinfandel
United States, California
B
Extremely drinkable. Nice finish. A touch light. Sort of.
Barboursville 2004 Cabernet Franc
United States, Virginia, Monticello
B-
Still good, but didn't live up to expectations or earlier tastings. Was just pretty flat and bland this time. On the other hand, still a B- because I'd be happier drinking this than a lot of others.
