I still have no ability to discern flavors. When I drank this, though, all my bitter-tasting buds went off, and left a foul bitter taste in my mouth for 10 min. or so. Carmen did not taste this at all, and, as I had the same reaction to orange juice, I do not blame the wine. Carmen's take, though, was that this was no better than cheap jug wine. Nice label, though...

X. Gardinier & Fils 2000
France, Bordeaux, Medoc
A
This was on the shelf at $30, and I finally decided to try it. It rang up at $10. I questioned that, and was assured the "computer was right," so I bought as much as I could before it sold out. It has been my wine of choice with lamb since (I still have 2 bottles!). Excellent wine.

Château Yquem 1998

Excellent, but not as good as the 2001 Château Rieussec, which was less than half the price. One pays for the name!

Château Rieussec 2001 Semillon (90%), Sauvignon Blanc (7%), Muscadelle ( 3%)
France, Bordeaux, Sauternes

Amazing! It was Wine Spectator's Wine of the Year with a 100 rating, so we expected to be let down; we were not. This is unbelievably good wine. I just wish I had invested in a few cases!

$13.99 for a 1.5 Liter bottle. Such a deal. This was pretty good for an economical wine. Definitely a good everyday wine. 65% Merlot, 20% Cab Sov, 15% Cab Franc.

Chateau Grand Mayne 2005 75% Merlot, 15% Cab Franc, 10% Cab Sav
France, Bordeaux, Saint-Emilion

The Cab Franc stands out in this bottle as it has a higher percentage than most. This bottle could lay down for a while and should definitely breathe first but it is a nice bottle and was a gift from my Mom.

Chateau de Navarro 2006

C-
This was a mediocre wine. The nose was faint with fruit. The taste was thin with hits of apricot

Chateau Le Coteau Margaux 2005 65% Cabernet Sauvignon/25% Merlot/8% Cab Franc/2% Petit Verdot
France, Bordeaux
A+
My new favorite! The best bottle I've ever had....point blank. This is a must buy- especially if you love Cabernet Sauvignon. Tannins, acidity, texture- everything blends perfectly.

jesigler
Chateau Haut-Canteloup 2005 55% Merlot, 40% Cab Sav, 5% Cab Franc
France, Bordeaux, Medoc
B
Although I prefer the Cab Sav to be the higher content I love the Cab Franc. This is a low end bottle and is a little harsher on the finish than most blends with Cab Franc. Decent bottle with no complaint. Costco special. I sometimes wonder if Costco stores their wine in a hot warehouse. I have had a few bottles that had that feel to them.

jesigler
Vincent Saincrit 2005 80% merlot, 20% cabernet
France, Bordeaux, Berson- Gironde
B
Although I prefer Bordeauxs from the other side of the river(more cab, less merlot) this was a pleasant bottle. Characteristically had the flat merlot flavor but the finish was more pronounced and tasy than some of the others from this side despite the high concentration of merlot.

Anejo
Chateau Lamothe 2007 60% Merlot, 20% Cab Sauv, 20% Cab Franc
France, Bordeaux, Gironde
C
   A young wine.

I ran into this bargain at Costco. I grabbed a couple of bottes and will go back hoping for several more. Rich but not heavy!
