This
page is where you can view and manage all of your logabottle features,
including your Bottle Log, Profile, Lists, Bottle Watches and Discussion Board

How
do I add an Image to My Home Page?
o
To
add a picture to your My Home Page (and public Bottle Log), click on the “My
Profile” link on your My Home Page
o
Scroll down to “Upload an image from your machine”
o
Click on the “Browse…” button to find the picture you want
to add on your computer

NOTE: The image must be less than 60 KB and smaller than
300 x 200 pixels

What does “View my public bottle log” do?
o
If you click on the “View my public bottle log” link, you
will be taken to the page that all other users see when they choose to view
your Bottle Log
o
This is where you can view both your Image and
Introduction Note as others will see it
o
Note: If you do not want other users to see your Bottle
Log, you can opt to make it Private
§
Click on the “My Profile” link and scroll down to “Public Bottle Log
Control Panel”
§
Select
“No” for option 2, which reads “Display a public bottle log of
all my tasting notes:”

What
does the “My Profile” link do?
o
Update
personal information, including:

Email
Address
– address to which we will send Newsletters and questions, if we need to
contact you; accessible to administrators only

Password – change your password
as needed; not accessible to users or administrators

Location – viewed by users and
administrators on the Users page

Update
website Preferences, including:

Always
notify me of replies – if you want to receive an email when someone posts on your
Discussion Board

Receive
logabottle.com email updates – if you want to receive the logabottle.com Newsletters

allows its users to create personalized lists of wines that have been logged

This
link allows you to create or delete a list and view your lists.

How
do I create a list?
o

on the “Manage my lists” link
o
On
the new page, add the name of the list you wish to make in the “Create a new
list” box and click “Submit”

You
do not need to create a list in advance in order to add a wine to it.
§
Instead,
you can chose a wine that you want to manage separately, then click the
to expand the logged information on that bottle

At
the bottom of the expanded information, click the link that reads “Add this
bottle to a list”
·
On
the new page, add the name of the list you wish to make in the “Create a new
list” box and click “Submit”, and the bottle will be put in this new list
·
How
do I delete a list?
o
Click
on the “Manage my lists” link
o
Click
the “Remove” link that is next to the list you wish to remove – THIS ALONE WILL
NOT DELETE THE LIST
o
A message will come up that asks: “Are you
sure? Deleting this list cannot be undone!”

If you are sure you want to delete the list,
click “delete”
§
If you do not want to delete the list, click “Cancel”

How
do I delete a bottle from a list?
o
Click
on the “Manage my lists” link
o
Click
on the List name that the bottle you want to delete is in
o
Click the
at the right of the
bottle that you wish to delete
o
Above the expanded bottle information on the right, click
the link that reads: “Remove from this list” and the bottle will be removed
from the list

do I add a bottle to a list?
o
Chose
a wine that you want to manage separately, then click the

this list” link that is to the right of the appropriate list

will be put in the new list

What does it mean to “Manage my bottle
watches”?
o
logabottle.com allows its users to create
lists of wines that are automatically updated based on certain criteria that
the user sets
o
This link allows you to add or delete these
lists, which we call Bottle Watches
·
How do I create a Bottle Watch?
o
Click on the “Manage my bottle watches” link
on your My Home Page
o
Click on the top most “Add” link to add a new
Bottle Watch

Note: you can only have up to 5 bottle watches
at one time
o
Enter the number of bottles that you want to
show up under you Bottle Watch on your My Home Page
o
Click
the “+” sign to the right of the “Filter” text to expand the Filter option and
add the criteria of your Bottle Watch
§
In
the first field, chose an item that you want to filter the Bottle Watch by
§
In
the second field, chose whether you want the Bottle Watch to either include or
exclude, or be less than or greater than, the item you chose in the first field
§
In
the third field, select or enter the criteria that you want the Bottle Watch
filter to apply to
§
To
add additional filter criteria, click the “+” sign to the right of the third
field, and another filter option will expand
o
If you want to sort the results of your Bottle Watch, click the “+” sign to
the right of the “Sort” text to expand the Sort option
§
In
the first field, chose an item that you want to Sort the Bottle Watch by
§
In
the second field, chose how you want to order the Bottle Watch
§
To
sort the Bottle Watch by more than one criteria, click the “+” sign to the
right of the second field, and another sort option will expand
o
Decide what you want to call this Bottle Watch and enter that
title in the “Give a name to this watch:” field
o
Click the “Save this bottle watch” link to save your new
Bottle Watch
o
All of the wines that match the criteria you set in your filters
will now show up on your My Home Page under the My Bottle Watches header

How do I edit a Bottle Watch?
o
Unfortunately, you cannot edit a Bottle Watch.
o
Instead, you need to add a new Bottle Watch
with your updated specifications, and delete the old one.

How do I delete a Bottle Watch?
o
Click on the “Manage my bottle watches” link
on your My Home Page
o
Click on the “Delete” link next to the Bottle
Watch you wish to remove

What
does the “Site News” link do?
o
Click
on “Site News” to go to the logabottle.com blog, in which the editors write
updates about the site

Why
does a “New” icon show up next to Site News sometimes?
o
Whenever
we add something to our Site News, a yellow icon that says “New” will show up
next to the Site News link
o
This
alerts our users that we have an announcement we’d like to share with them

What
is My Discussion Board?
o
All
users have a Discussion Board on their My Home Page. This allows users to chat
with each other by posting messages to the board.
o
A
default message shows up as the first post on every user’s Discussion Board
§
You
can edit the default message on your own Discussion Board
·
How
do I edit a message on My Discussion Board?
o
Simply
click the Edit icon to change a message that you added to a Discussion Board
o
You
can only edit posts that you added
·
How
do I delete a message on My Discussion Board?
o
Posts
cannot be deleted from Discussion Boards
·
How
do I add a message to someone’s Discussion Board?
o
Enter
your note into the text box and click the “Add a comment” button
·
How
do I edit a message I added to someone’s Discussion Board?
o
Simply
click the Edit icon to change a message that you added to a Discussion Board
·
How
do I remove My Discussion Board?
o
You
can opt to make the Discussion Board private (so no other users can see it or
add to it) by clicking the “My Profile” link on your My Home Page
o
Scroll down to the Public Bottle Log Control Panel and check the
No option for the “Display a simple discussion board on my
public bottle log”
o
Note that you cannot delete old posts, and they will continue to
show on your My Home Page, even after you make the Discussion Board inactive

What
are My Friends?
o
My
Friends are users that you have selected to track
o
Their
user names will appear on the upper right of your My Home Page
o
Additionally,
the number of new bottles that the Friend has logged since you last signed in
will be in parentheses after the user name
·
How
do I add Friends?
o
To
add a user as a Friend, go to their public Bottle Log

You
can access their public Bottle Log by going to the “Users” page and finding and
clicking on their user name
o
Click
on the “add to My Friends” link located below their user name
·
How
do I delete Friends?
o
Go
to My Home Page and click the “edit my friends” link at the bottom of your list
of Friends
o
Click
the “remove” link next to the user name that you wish to delete
·
How do I see all the information for a wine on My Home Page?
o
You will notice only a few, key items show up
for each wine listed on your My Home page
o
To view all of the available information,
click the
to the right of the bottle you are interested in
o
All of the fields that have been filled out
for the bottle you have selected will appear in the column on the right side of
the page
o
At the bottom of this list of information are
two options:

Add this bottle to a list
·
This option allows you to add the wine to a
personalized list
·
You do not need to have already created a list
in order to utilize this option
·
Click on the link and you can add the bottle
to a new list that you create on the spot, or add it to one of your already
existing lists which will be listed
·
These lists are then stored on your My Home
Page, where you can view and edit them

Email this bottle info
·
This option allows you to email the
information in the bottle log to yourself, a friend, or anyone
·
Click the link to see all the information
available for the wine, and how it will look in the email
·
At the bottom of the page, fill out the “Email
address to send to:” and “Your Name:” boxes
·
Click “Submit” to send the email
·
Why
is there sometimes a red message above the expanded wine information telling me I can buy
wine?
o
Thanks
to our affiliate, Triggit.com, we can now offer our users the ability to buy
certain wines logged on logabottle.com
o
To
check if a wine can be bought on logabottle.com, click the
next
to the bottle of your choice listed on your Bottle Log, My Home Page, or All
Logs

It
can be a bottle that any user logged, not just your own
o
In
the expanded wine information on the right, check at the top to see if there is
a message in red indicating that the wine can be bought through a participating
retailer
o
If
the link exists, click on it to be redirected to that retailer’s website and
the bottle that you selected will be available for you to buy
o
Currently only the more popular, U.S. wines can be purchased on
logabottle.com. But as we continue to grow, more and more wines will become
available for purchase from our site

How do I see the wines that are not on the
front page?
o
At
the bottom of the list of wines, but before the map, are the “Go to page” links
that will take you to other pages of your My Bottle Log
o
You
can select the page number you want to go to, or just click “Next” to go to the
next page
