Heavy: A wine that is heavy has very concentrated levels of alchohol, tannins, acidity and/or extract. It will taste very thick and potent, typically overly so.

Some heavy wines soften up over time or with exposure to oxygen, but others will never balance out enough to reach their full potential.

The opposite of a heavy wine is a delicate wine.
